Privacy policy

This policy explains what information macagora.com handles and why. It applies to this website only.

What we collect

Reading the site. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics. Our server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to build profiles.

Affiliate click counts. When you click a product link, your browser sends us a small note naming the box and the product that was clicked. We store only a daily count per link. No IP address, cookie or personal identifier is stored with it.

Messages. If you use the contact form we store your name, email address and message so we can read and answer it. A copy of the message is forwarded to our editorial inbox. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Spam protection. Our forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile may process information about your browser and device under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

Cookies

The public site sets no cookies of its own. The admin area uses one strictly necessary session cookie for signed-in editors only. Fonts are served from our own server.

When you follow a link to Amazon or another retailer, that site may set its own cookies to record that you came from us, so that a qualifying purchase can be credited. Links to some retailers (for example Corel, Abt Electronics and Books-A-Million) pass through CJ, an affiliate network, which may set its own cookies for the same purpose. Links to Coursera and Tinymoose pass through MaxBounty, another affiliate network, which works the same way; their banner images load from MaxBounty's image server, and your browser sends no page address with that request. Those cookies are governed by the retailer's and the networks' policies, not ours. See the cookie policy for details.

Hosting and delivery

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes connection data to protect and speed up the site.

How long we keep things

Contact messages are kept while they are useful for answering you and are then deleted. Click counts contain no personal data.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete your messages. Write to sketchbook@macagora.com and we will answer within a reasonable time.

Children

Macagora is a general-interest site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
